Research shows that quality programs
have positive outcomes for youth, staff
and the community.  Below are a list of
indicators to look for in quality programs.
Relationships: Great relationships between
staff, children, parents and the community are
important for many reasons. Caring,
responsive, encouraging and guiding
relationships promote healthy development and
social growth.

Indoor Environment: An indoor environment
that reflects the cultures and developmental
levels and needs of the youth involved in the
program.

Outdoor Environment: The outdoor
environment should be safe and secure with
equipment that allows children to explore
independently and be creative.

Activities: Activities should be incorporated
through out the day that are flexible and offer
enriching opportunities to explore interests and
meet the needs of all youth.

Safety, Health and Nutrition: Program should
provide a safe and secure environment that
protects and enhances the health and safety of
all youth.
